Axcis are on search for an experienced teaching assistant to work within a special school specialising in supporting children with Autism and complex needs, the school caters to children aged 4 to 19 years, tailoring their provision to each individual’s needs. The school requires a 1:1 teaching assistants to work with a child with exceptional special needs and whom can display very challenging behaviour. The perfect teaching assistant will need to have a high levels of resilience and dedication as consistency is key for all children with SEND needs however this is 10x as important for individuals with exceptional SEND needs. This is a full-time role on a small group and 1:1 basis on an ongoing basis for the 2024/25 academic year. Being able to work independently and as part of a team is key, to be able to take direction from the teacher and implement planning accurately and effectively. Whilst you will be working on a 1:1 basis with the specific individual you will also rotate with the class team in working with other 1:1 children and small groups of children (2-3), this is purposely done by school as they appreciate it would be too tough for any one person to work solely with the specific 1:1. This Autism specific school is based within North Birmingham and whilst car parking is available, the school also has great public transport links. You will be working with the class teacher, following their planning and giving feedback on sessions.
