Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Student with Complex Needs
Location: Islington Agency: Axcis Education Contract: Full-time, Mon-Fri Axcis Education is seeking an experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with complex needs at a specialist school in Islington. This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about working in special education and making a real difference in a child's life. Key Responsibilities: *Provide 1:1 support to a student with complex needs, ensuring their educational, emotional, and physical needs are met. *Work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to implement the student's EHCP *Adapt learning materials and strategies to suit the individual needs of the student. *Support with communication, including using alternative communication methods such as Makaton or PECS, if required. *Assist with any personal care or medical needs the student may have. *Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment to support the student's development. *Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times. Requirements: Previous experience working as a TA with students who have complex needs is essential. Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioural challenges. Knowledge of EHCPs and the ability to implement personalised strategies. Training in alternative communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS) is highly desirable. A patient, adaptable, and compassionate approach to supporting children with diverse needs. Safeguarding training and an enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one). Desirable: Medical training relevant to the student's needs (e.g. tube feeding, administering medication). Experience working within a specialist school environment.
