SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary Academy – Havering
From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start
Axcis are working with a growing and inclusive primary academy in Havering who are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to become part of a school community with high expectations, strong values and a clear focus on helping pupils build confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
The school is looking for someone calm, proactive and consistent who can support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, social communication difficulties and emotional regulation needs. You will be working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and wider support staff to ensure pupils feel safe, included and able to access learning throughout the school day.
The school is based in Havering and is accessible by local transport links, with routes from Romford, Hornchurch, Rainham, Dagenham and surrounding areas.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils within the classroom, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis where required. You will help children engage with learning, follow routines, manage transitions and develop confidence in both academic and social situations.
You will:
• Support pupils with SEND across the primary phase
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to help children access classroom learning
• Use visual supports, structured routines and positive reinforcement strategies
• Support pupils with communication, attention, confidence and emotional regulation
• Help children during transitions, group work and unstructured parts of the school day
• Assist the class teacher with adapted resources and differentiated activities
• Encourage independence, positive behaviour and social interaction
• Work closely with the SENCO and teaching team to follow individual support plans
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND or additional needs
• Experience with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs or SEMH would be beneficial
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Confidence building positive relationships with pupils quickly
• Good classroom awareness and willingness to use initiative
• Reliability, consistency and a genuine interest in inclusive education
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role from September
