Job Title: Teaching Assistant
SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Tower Hamlets
From £93 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | September Start / Immediate Trial Available
Axcis are working with a large, inclusive primary school in Tower Hamlets who are seeking a dedicated and proactive SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy mainstream primary setting and is confident supporting pupils with a range of additional needs.
The school has a strong community feel and a well-established SEND provision, with experienced teachers, support staff and a SENCO who work closely together to ensure pupils receive consistent, high-quality support. The school supports children with needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, global developmental delay and social communication needs.
Located in East London with excellent transport links via Tube, DLR, Overground and local bus routes, this is a highly accessible role for candidates across Tower Hamlets and surrounding boroughs.
About the Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils across the primary phase, both within the classroom and through targeted 1:1 or small-group support. The role would suit someone who can build positive relationships quickly, use initiative and adapt their approach depending on each child’s needs.
You will:
• Support pupils with SEND in mainstream classroom settings
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to help children access learning
• Use visual supports, structured routines and positive reinforcement strategies
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and transitions
• Assist the class teacher with differentiated activities and learning resources
• Work closely with the SENCO and wider support team to follow EHCP targets
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive social interaction throughout the school day
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience supporting children with SEND in a school or childcare setting
• Experience with autism, speech and language needs, ADHD or developmental delay would be highly desirable
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong classroom awareness and ability to use initiative
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role
• Reliability, consistency and a genuine passion for inclusive education
