Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Andover. This role involves supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs and Autism Spectrum Condition, helping them to manage their emotions, develop social skills, and fully engage in their education.
Working closely with teachers, the SENCo, and other staff, you will provide individualised support to ensure students have the tools they need to thrive academically and personally. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact on young people’s lives, promoting confidence, independence, and resilience.
We welcome applicants with experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. This may come from a previous role or personal experience, such as caring for a family member. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach is essential, along with a genuine commitment to inclusion and positive outcomes for all students.
Key responsibilities:
Support students with SEMH and ASC needs to access the curriculum and achieve their goals
Encourage emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
Work closely with school staff and external professionals to deliver consistent support
Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing school environment
Requirements:
Experience with SEND, either professional or personal
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
