Job Type: Teaching Assistant (Primary) – Supporting SEND
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly team at a vibrant primary school located in the beautiful area of Langport, Somerset. The ideal candidate will be an individual who is passionate about contributing to the educational journey of young learners, particularly those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of daily classroom activities.
- Work alongside the class teacher to support pupils with their learning and help to maintain a safe and stimulating educational environment.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to children with SEND, adapting materials and strategies to meet their diverse needs.
- Encourage positive pupil behavior and contribute to the school’s inclusive approach.
- Support the development of social skills and contribute to the student's personal growth.
- Assist with monitoring and recording pupils' progress, sharing this information with the class teacher.
- Support the class teacher with administrative tasks and the preparation of resources.
- Engage and communicate effectively with staff, parents, and pupils.
Requirements:
- Experience supporting children within a primary school setting would be advantageous.
- A patient and positive approach with an ability to engage and motivate pupils.
- Good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
- An understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and commitment to inclusive education.
- NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, or relevant experience in a similar role.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or a willingness to undergo one.
