Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant Year 6 class in the picturesque town of Seaton, Devon. As an integral part of the classroom team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic support as well as behavioural and emotional guidance to students, ensuring a nurturing and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning, delivering, and evaluating learning activities across the curriculum.
- Work closely with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning concepts, address specific educational needs, and support their academic development.
- Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs and disabilities, adapting resources and strategies to cater to their individual requirements.
- Employ effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and focused classroom atmosphere.
- Encourage and assist children in developing independence and self-regulation skills.
- Monitor and track student progress, reporting any concerns to the classroom teacher and contributing to pupil records as necessary.
- Facilitate a safe and engaging learning environment by adhering to the school’s policies and procedures.
- Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and the setting up of equipment for lessons and activities.
- Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- An understanding of the primary education curriculum, particularly Year 6.
- Experience in supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and pupils.
- Patience, resilience, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A commitment to child safeguarding and welfare.
