Full-Time SEND Teaching Assistant – Poole (Start: September)
Are you a passionate and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant with a background in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Are you ready to make a lasting difference in a young learner’s life?
We are a large, welcoming three-form entry primary school in Poole, proud of our inclusive ethos and commitment to providing high-quality education for all our pupils. We are currently seeking a dedicated full-time SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team from September, supporting a Year 2 pupil with SEMH needs on a 1:1 basis.
About the Role:
This is a highly rewarding role, focused on building a strong, trusting relationship with one child to support their learning and emotional development throughout the school day. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider pastoral team to deliver personalised support that meets the pupil’s specific SEMH needs.
You will be instrumental in helping this pupil thrive in their classroom environment, encouraging positive behaviour, engagement in learning, and social interaction. In return, you will be fully supported by a dedicated team, including experienced SEND professionals and a leadership team who value and invest in their staff.
What We Offer:
A vibrant, well-resourced school with a supportive and collaborative ethos
Excellent facilities to support a wide range of teaching and learning needs
Ongoing professional development opportunities
A caring and enthusiastic staff team who work together to support every child
A fantastic location in the heart of Poole, close to local transport links
About You:
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, ideally in a primary setting
Demonstrates a calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour management
Has the ability to build strong, positive relationships with both pupils and staff
Understands the importance of consistency, structure, and encouragement for children with SEMH
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
This role would be ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and who thrives in a team-oriented, nurturing environment.
If you are looking for a fulfilling role where you can make a real difference, we would love to hear from you.
