We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and inclusive primary school in Liverpool (L36), where every child is supported to reach their full potential. About the Role In this rewarding position, you’ll play a vital part in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), personal care requirements, and behavioural challenges. Working closely with class teachers and support staff, you will help create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that encourages students to grow in confidence and independence. Your Responsibilities Will Include: Providing individualised support to children with ASD and other complex needs, both in and out of the classroom. Assisting with personal care tasks, ensuring students’ dignity and well-being at all times. Supporting the management of challenging behaviour using positive reinforcement and effective behaviour strategies. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals to implement tailored learning and care plans. Encouraging the development of communication, social, and life skills through structured routines and activities. Monitoring and reporting on student progress, helping to celebrate each achievement—big or small. What We’re Looking For: Experience: Previous experience working with children with SEN—especially ASD and behavioural needs—is highly desirable, though not essential. Attributes: Excellent communication skills, a calm and empathetic approach, and the ability to adapt quickly to the needs of individual pupils. Commitment: A proactive, reliable, and caring attitude with a willingness to support children in all aspects of their development. Requirements: An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or a willingness to obtain one prior to starting. Why Join This School?
