About the Role
Axcis are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team in a well-established PRU based in East London. You will be supporting students aged 11–16 who have been excluded from mainstream education and may present with behavioural, emotional, and social challenges, as well as Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is patient, empathetic, and passionate about providing young people with a second chance at education.
Key Responsibilities
Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging, accessible learning activities
Work 1:1 and in small groups with pupils to support academic, social, and emotional development
Help manage behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy
Implement tailored interventions for students with SEND, including those with SEMH needs
Contribute to a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working in a PRU, alternative provision, or a similar challenging educational environment
A strong understanding of and commitment to supporting children with SEND, particularly SEMH
Excellent communication and behaviour management skills
A calm, patient, and consistent approach to working with vulnerable young people
A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) is desirable, though not essential
