**Working Hours**: 8.30 am - 3.30 pm
### About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a supportive and thriving school in Heywood, Lancashire. You will work closely with small groups of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), conducting tailored intervention sessions to support their learning and development. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with additional learning needs.
### Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and deliver intervention programs designed by teaching staff to support SEND students effectively.
- Work with small groups of pupils, providing the support they need to meet their individual learning objectives.
- Conduct occasional one-to-one sessions to assist students with particular educational or emotional needs.
- Monitor and report on the progress of students within the intervention groups, providing feedback to teaching staff and contributing to the planning of future activities.
- Establish a safe and stimulating educational environment that fosters learning and promotes the inclusion of all pupils.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents/carers, and relevant external agencies to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupils' education and wellbeing.
- Utilize appropriate resources and teaching strategies to engage and motivate students, adapting to their individual styles of learning.
- Manage pupil behavior effectively to ensure a constructive classroom environment.
- Assist in the preparation of teaching materials, equipment, and learning spaces to support lesson plans.
### Essential Criteria:
- Relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant, especially with SEND pupils.
- Hold a DBS on the update service or be willing to undergo a new Enhanced DBS check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to work sensitively and assertively with children, maintaining respect and confidentiality.
- An empathetic understanding of the needs and barriers faced by students with SEND.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and capability to plan and prioritize workload.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- An appropriate TA qualification or equivalent is desirable but not mandatory.
