Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
A specialist all-through SEND school in Reading is looking for a reliable and thoughtful teaching assistant to join their team full-time from September 2025. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and could lead to a permanent position for the right person.
This is a varied role supporting pupils with a wide range of needs including autism, SEMH, complex needs, ADHD, Down’s syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and PMLD. You’ll be working across different classrooms and age groups, so flexibility and a calm, team-focused approach are essential. The school takes a practical, person-centred view of learning, with strong emphasis on communication, routine and supportive relationships.
Experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential—at least three months in a relevant role. A TA Level 2 qualification is useful but not a must. You’ll also need to be comfortable supporting personal care and able to adapt your approach depending on the individual. A driving licence is a bonus, as additional opportunities may arise that involve transporting children.
If you're someone who listens well, keeps things steady in busy environments and values the small steps of progress, this could be a great next step.
