Axcis Education is looking for teaching assistants to work at a special school within the Handsworth area. The school currently caters to autistic children and young people aged 4 to 13 years with complex needs. The needs of the individuals at this school are very complex, including non-verbal/pre-verbal communication, distressing/challenging behaviour, sensory challenges and personal care needs as well as social, emotional and mental health challenges. Due to the needs of the pupils the school has adapted a very niche operation and therefore are looking for teaching assistants willing to adapt their practice as a TA to the needs of the specific children; willingness to take on feedback and adapt is highly valued. This is a full-time role, working on a small group and 1:1 basis for the remainder of the 2024/25 academic year, with not only potential to return after the summer holidays but also to be offered a permanent contract. Being able to work independently and as part of a team is key, to be able to take direction from the teacher and implement planning accurately and effectively.
