Pay: £92–£97 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm

Axcis Education is recruiting for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Weymouth, Dorset. This full-time role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and making a positive difference to students’ academic, social and emotional development.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school community where you will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, gaining valuable experience within SEND education, learning support and behaviour support.
The successful candidate will provide 1:1 and small group support for students with additional needs, helping them access the curriculum, build independence and engage positively with school life.
About the Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for secondary-aged pupils with SEN
• Support students with Autism (ASC), SEMH, communication needs and additional learning needs
• Help pupils access lessons and participate confidently in classroom activities
• Work alongside teachers to deliver personalised learning support strategies
• Support students’ academic progress alongside their social, emotional and communication development
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement with learning
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel safe and supported
• Support pupils within mainstream classrooms, intervention sessions and smaller support settings
• Promote inclusion and encourage students to take an active role in school life

The Ideal Candidate
The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
• A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
• Experience working with young people in an education, SEND, care or support setting (desirable but not essential)
• An understanding of special educational needs, autism, SEMH or behaviour support
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A patient, adaptable and positive approach
• The ability to build effective relationships with students and staff
• The confidence to work independently while contributing to a wider support team
