Job Title: SEMH Teaching assistant
Seeking: SEMH teaching assistant (TA)
We are on the lookout for a wonderful, caring team teach trained teaching assistant (TA) for a role in a KS4 class in a PRU unit. The school is small with a warm atmosphere, where staff work closely together and are passionate about engaging their students.
There are 11 children in the KS4 class. These students have a range of needs, including SEMH and some SEN, so you will need to be highly adaptable to their needs. The school prides itself on creating a safe space for students, and focus on positive behaviour management. You will need to be team teach trained for this role, and ideally have experience with challenging behaviour.
Staff bring their personal interests to the school, providing lots of active learning and extra-curricular opportunities for students. So having a fun hobby that you could incorporate into your role would be a huge bonus! There are opportunities for extra roles leading clubs if you would like to, which will be paid for on top of your daily rate.
Due to the nature of a PRU unit, they aim to provide consistency for all students consequently ideally are looking for someone to commit to this role in the long-term. However for now it is from January until the end of this academic year. You will need to be in school from 8.30 until 3.30pm, varying depending on experience. This is a full-time role from Monday to Friday.
A local alternative provision (PRU) are looking for several full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant HLTAs to join their secondary school. The students have SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. The school works with surrounding secondary schools to offer early intervention for students who are finding navigating a large mainstream setting challenging. The school is a caring environment, where staff work hard to give students a great educational experience, aiming to re-engage them with education.
The role:
-to work 1-1 and with small groups to deliver targeted interventions
-work closely with the classroom teacher to support the students in and out of lessons
-develop a strong rapport with the students you are working with
-hours are from 8.30 to 3.30
-re-engage and motivate students who have had negative school experiences

-have a good understanding of SEMH needs
