About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join our specialist team in Walton, Surrey. You will work closely with qualified teachers to deliver a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning environment for children with profound and multiple learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in planning and implementing individualized learning activities that meet each pupil’s developmental goals.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support, encouraging communication, social interaction, and independence.
• Support daily routines, personal care, and therapeutic interventions as required.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, reporting observations to the class teacher and multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inclusive classroom setting in line with health and safety standards.
• Contribute to team meetings, CPD sessions, and the continuous improvement of practice.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Relevant experience or training in PMLD settings (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, NVQ in Supporting Learning).
• Understanding of safeguarding, health & safety, and disability legislation.
• Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
