Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Nurture Room Lead Location: Harrow Salary: £89p/day - Depending on experience and qualifications) Contract Type: Full Time Start Date: Now/From September Are you an experienced and resilient HLTA with a passion for supporting children with complex needs? We are seeking a committed individual to lead our small, specialist Nurture Room. About the Role: We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to take the lead in delivering a nurturing, safe, and structured learning environment for six primary-aged children with high-level needs. All children have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and are currently awaiting placements in specialist settings. They are not accessing the mainstream curriculum or classroom, so the Nurture Room acts as their primary educational provision. You will be supported by two experienced Teaching Assistants and work closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team, and external professionals. Key Responsibilities: Lead and deliver personalised learning activities and routines tailored to individual EHCPs. Create a structured, supportive, and therapeutic classroom environment. Foster social, emotional, and communication development. Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and other professionals to ensure individual plans are effectively implemented. Support children in regulating their behaviour using trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches. The Ideal Candidate Will: Be a qualified/experienced HLTA (or equivalent) with experience working with children with SEND, SEMH, or complex needs. Be confident leading small-group learning and managing challenging behaviours. Have strong emotional resilience and a nurturing, patient approach. Be passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children. Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
