The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with pupils with autism, supporting their communication, emotional regulation, sensory needs, and engagement in learning. Key Responsibilities As a Teaching Assistant, you will: • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). • Support pupils with communication, interaction, and social development. • Assist pupils with emotional regulation and managing sensory needs. • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours. • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and families to ensure consistent support. • Build positive relationships that help pupils feel safe, understood, and supported throughout the school day. • Support pupils during classroom activities, breaktimes, and transitions between lessons. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who: • Has experience working with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). • Understands the challenges associated with autism, including sensory processing differences, communication needs, and emotional regulation. • Has experience supporting pupils with SEND in a school, care, residential, or community setting. • Is patient, empathetic, calm, and resilient. • Can build trusting relationships and provide consistent support. • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills. • Is passionate about supporting children with autism to achieve their full potential.
