Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Learning Support Assistant – Secondary SEND – Barking & Dagenham £100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Barking & Dagenham Axcis Education is recruiting a confident and personable Learning Support Assistant to work within a mainstream secondary school in Barking & Dagenham, supporting students with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH and additional learning needs. This role would suit someone who enjoys working with teenagers and understands how to provide the right level of support without becoming over-reliant on 1:1 assistance. The school is looking for someone who can help students stay focused, organised and confident across the school day while encouraging them to become increasingly independent. Previous school-based SEND experience is highly desirable, although strong candidates from closely related support backgrounds will also be considered. About the Role Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 Working with pupils with Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH and learning difficulties Providing support within lessons across a range of subjects Helping students with focus, organisation and understanding classroom tasks Supporting 1:1 and small-group interventions where required Helping pupils manage emotional regulation and low-level behaviour Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and the wider pastoral team Encouraging students to develop confidence, independence and resilience About You We would particularly like to hear from candidates who: Have previous experience working as an LSA, SEND TA or classroom support worker Are confident supporting secondary-aged students Have experience with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties Can build relationships quickly while maintaining clear professional boundaries Understand how to support students without completing work for them Are calm, reliable and able to use initiative Can commit to a full-time, long-term role The School & Location The role is based in Barking & Dagenham, with good transport links from Barking, Dagenham, Ilford, Romford and Newham.
