Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding 1:1 role within a welcoming mainstream primary school?
Axcis Education is working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Bournemouth to recruit a dedicated Teaching Assistant to provide full-time 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with additional needs from September 2026.

The Role
You will work closely with a Year 5 pupil, providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day. Your role will focus on helping the pupil access learning, develop confidence and independence, and successfully engage with both classroom activities and social interactions.
Working alongside the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team, you will adapt learning where required and use positive strategies to support emotional regulation, communication and engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with SEND.
Supporting the pupil to access the curriculum and achieve their individual EHCP outcomes.
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive relationships with peers.
Using positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies where appropriate.
Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs.
Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENDCo.
Building a trusting, supportive relationship that enables the pupil to flourish both academically and socially.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience supporting children with SEND in a primary school.
Has experience supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH or communication needs.
Is patient, calm and resilient, with a nurturing and positive approach.
Can build strong relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
Works well as part of a collaborative staff team.
Holds a relevant TA qualification or has equivalent school-based experience.
Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
