Location: Brent, London (Short walk from Kensal Rise Station) Setting: SEND Secondary School (with a Primary School nearby) Start Date: 2nd Week of September 2026 Contract: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm Position Type: Flexible Day-to-Day Cover (Opportunity to Trial) with Potential to Become Full-Time & Permanent About the Role Axcis Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded, inclusive SEND Secondary School in Brent, located just a short walk from Kensal Rise and Brondesbury Park stations. The school also has a linked primary provision nearby, creating a strong and supportive SEND education community across both settings. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join on a flexible day-to-day cover basis, starting from the 2nd week of September 2026, with the potential for the role to develop into a full-time and permanent position for the right candidate. The school is well-known for its warm, collaborative culture, excellent leadership, and purpose-built SEN facilities designed to support pupils with a wide range of complex needs. This role is also ideal for candidates looking to trial the school environment through daily cover work before committing long-term. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with Autism and complex SEN, in line with their EHCPs. Support learning interventions alongside teachers and the wider SEN team. Use alternative communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar systems to support engagement and understanding. Provide personal care support where required, in a respectful and professional manner. Support pupils’ social, emotional, communication, and life skills development. Contribute positively to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment across both primary and secondary SEND settings. The Ideal Candidate Will Have experience supporting children or young people with Autism and/or complex SEND. Be confident using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton. Be comfortable supporting personal care needs where required. Be adaptable and confident working across SEND Secondary and nearby Primary settings. Be a strong team player with excellent communication skills. Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply). Be open to flexible day-to-day work with potential to transition into a long-term role. Why Join This School?
