1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 5 (ASC & SEMH Support) Location: Bournemouth, Dorset Start Date: ASAP Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only Pay: £90–£100 per day Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them reach their full potential? A friendly and inclusive primary school in Bournemouth is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's individual needs Support emotional regulation, behaviour management and engagement in learning Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to implement personalised support strategies Build a positive and trusting relationship that promotes confidence and independence Adapt learning activities to ensure the pupil can access the curriculum successfully Support transitions, routines and social interactions throughout the school day Encourage positive participation, resilience and personal development What We're Looking For The successful candidate will have: Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or SEND setting A good understanding of ASC and SEMH needs Strong communication and relationship-building skills A calm, patient and resilient approach Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning Why Join This School?
