Are you an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding full-time role within a supportive primary school environment?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Christchurch is seeking a confident, proactive and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from June 2026.
This role involves supporting pupils with ASC, SEMH, communication needs, and additional learning needs within a mainstream classroom setting, alongside targeted small group and 1:1 support. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, regulate emotions and build confidence in a structured and nurturing environment.
About the Role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with ASC and SEMH
Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCO to deliver personalised support strategies
Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs within the classroom
Create a calm, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times such as break and lunch
Encourage pupil engagement, independence and confidence
The Ideal Candidate:
Previous experience working as a SEND TA or Teaching Assistant (essential)
Strong understanding of ASC and SEMH needs within a primary setting
Patient, resilient and able to build positive relationships with pupils
Proactive and confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs
A team player who works well within a collaborative school environment
