Job Title: Teaching assistant
Teaching Assistant – SEND Department (Mainstream College)
Location: Merton, Southwest London
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term (until July 2025, initially)
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the SEND department of a well-established mainstream college in Merton.
About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will:
– Support learners aged 16–18 with a range of special educational needs
– Assist students with academic tasks, daily routines, and during break times
– Accompany students on short walks or local community outings when needed
– Work closely with teaching staff to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
Working Hours
Choose a schedule that suits you:
– 4 days per week: Tuesday to Friday
– Or 2 days per week: Tuesday & Thursday
– Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
Who We’re Looking For
– Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school or college setting
– Patient, empathetic, and adaptable to varying student needs
– Confident in delivering one-to-one and small group support
– A collaborative and proactive team player
