Job Title: Teaching Assistant Location: Templecombe, Somerset Daily Rate: £90 per day PAYE Special Educational Needs: SEMH Job Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at an inclusive school located in Templecombe, Somerset. The ideal candidate will have experience working social, emotional, mental health needs and will be committed to fostering a supportive learning environment that encourages the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth of the students, aged 5 to 13 years. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and execute lessons that meet the diverse needs of all students. - Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with identified SEMH, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential. - Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to create a positive and safe classroom environment for learning. - Foster a nurturing and learning-driven environment, sensitive to the emotional and behavioural challenges faced by students with SEMH. - Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources tailored to the needs of the students. - Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and potentially to parents and caregivers when appropriate. - Maintain respectful and professional communication with students, staff, and families. - Manage the classroom effectively in the absence of the lead teacher, as needed. - Partake in professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices for supporting students with SEMH. - Adhere to school policies and procedures while ensuring the safety and well-being of all children. Qualifications and Skills: - A relevant teaching assistant qualification or equivalent educational background is preferred. - Proven experience working with children who have SEMH needs. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, staff, and families. - Patience, resilience, and a nurturing disposition. - Ability to work well in a team as well as independently when required. - A commitment to professional growth and development. - Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) or willingness to undergo one.
