Axcis Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive special school in Sutton. This rewarding opportunity involves providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within a well-resourced SEND environment.

This role is ideal for a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about making a positive difference in the life of a child with autism.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Support the pupil's learning, engagement, and participation throughout the school day.
• Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
• Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil to encourage confidence and independence.
• Manage challenging behaviours, including disengagement from learning and leaving the classroom.
• Support the pupil during transitions between lessons and activities.
• Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other support staff to ensure consistent support.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:
• Has previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
• Has strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• Is resilient, proactive, and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
• Can build positive relationships and maintain clear professional boundaries.
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Holds relevant Teaching Assistant, SEND, Childcare, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or Education qualifications (desirable but not essential).
