About the Role Specialist Support Workers provide tailored assistance to students with specific needs, including dyslexia, autism spectrum conditions (ASC), ADHD, or sensory impairments. This role ensures that every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through targeted interventions and empathetic support. Key Responsibilities: Deliver personalized, one-on-one or small group interventions tailored to students’ needs. Utilize specialized tools, techniques, or assistive technologies, such as multi-sensory teaching for dyslexia or social stories for autism. Help students develop organizational skills, coping strategies, and confidence. Educate school staff and peers to foster understanding and inclusion. Support students through educational transitions or preparation for employment. What We’re Looking For Essential: Demonstrable specialist experience in roles such as 1:1 support for students with SEMH, ASC, or behavioural challenges. In-depth knowledge of conditions like dyslexia, autism, or ADHD, and the interventions or tools associated with them. Training in assistive technologies or specialist methodologies (e.g., Orton-Gillingham). Patience, empathy, and exceptional communication skills.
