Job Title: Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Location: Woodley, Reading
Pay: £92.63 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
About the School:
We are working with a large, modern special school in the Woodley area of Reading, catering for pupils from Early Years through to Sixth Form. The school supports children and young people with a wide range of needs, including Moderate Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and other complex learning needs. The setting is well-resourced, supportive, and committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all pupils.
The Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and flexible SEND Teaching Assistant to join the team. This is a varied and rewarding role, supporting students across different age groups and needs. You will work closely with teachers and therapists to provide tailored support, helping pupils access learning and develop independence.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with a range of special educational needs in classroom and specialist settings
Assist with personal care, including nappy changing, across all age groups
Support pupils during a variety of school activities, both in and out of the classroom
Assist in hydrotherapy sessions (training provided where necessary)
Encourage communication, engagement, and positive behaviour
Adapt to different classes and student needs as required

Have a flexible approach and willingness to support across the whole school
Be comfortable supporting personal care needs
Have a proactive and positive attitude to learning and development
Ideally have experience working with children or young people with SEND
