Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00?am – 3:30?pm (Full-time)
Salary: Paid to scale (according to the National Scale for Teaching Assistants)
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to support learners in a vibrant, inclusive primary/secondary setting in Richmond. Working closely with class teachers and specialist staff, you will help create a safe, stimulating environment that promotes academic progress and personal development for pupils with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with SEND, reinforcing lesson content and facilitating participation.
• Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies under teacher guidance.
• Prepare and adapt teaching resources, ensuring accessibility and relevance.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, communicating observations to teachers and parents.
• Assist with classroom organisation, transitions, and daily routines.
• Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture by promoting respect, independence, and confidence among all learners.
Essential Requirements
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics (grade C/4 or above).
• Experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a school setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with pupils, staff, and families.
• Good organisational abilities and the capacity to follow clear instructions.
• Commitment to safeguarding and adherence to school policies.
Desirable
• Relevant Level 2/3 qualifications (e.g., CACHE, PTLS).
• Knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices.
