About the Role:
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in a vibrant and inclusive school located in Wandsworth, London.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and moderate learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND
• Assist in the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities
• Implement strategies and interventions in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
• Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to review meetings
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
• Support pupils with personal care and emotional regulation when necessary
• Collaborate effectively with teaching staff, SENCO, parents, and external professionals
Essential:
• Proven experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly those with autism and/or ADHD
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive approach to supporting learning
Desirable:
• Relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience working in a mainstream or specialist school setting
• Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies
• Current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
