Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant - SEMH Focus
Location: Slough Hours: Full-time, term-time Start: ASAP Are you driven by the desire to support children who need a little extra help to thrive? A specialist primary provision in Slough is seeking a committed SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team, working with pupils aged 4–11 who experience Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The Role In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with teachers to help pupils build emotional resilience, confidence and positive relationships. You’ll support children in accessing learning, managing their feelings and developing the social skills they need to succeed. Each day brings new moments of progress—big and small—as you help shape a safe, structured and encouraging environment. Key Duties • Providing tailored learning and emotional support to pupils with SEMH needs • Helping children develop emotional regulation, self-awareness and confidence • Supporting behaviour management strategies in a calm, consistent manner • Assisting with creative and differentiated learning activities • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and their families • Contributing to a nurturing, well-organised learning environment What We’re Looking For You’ll bring experience supporting children with SEND—ideally in an SEMH setting—and a calm, patient presence. You’ll be someone who can think on your feet, stay positive under pressure and commit fully to pupil wellbeing and development. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, as is the ability to build trust with the children in your care.
