SEN Teaching Assistant – Complex SEND Location: Leigh Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm Pay: From £93 per day Employer: Axcis Education Axcis Education is recruiting for an experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a class of children with complex needs within a welcoming school environment. This is a specialist role supporting children with a wide range of complex needs, including: • Down’s Syndrome • Cerebral Palsy • Physical disabilities • Complex learning and communication needs • A range of additional and individual SEND needs Candidates must have previous hands-on experience supporting children or adults with severe and complex special educational needs. To be considered for this role, candidates must: • Have at least 6 months' direct experience supporting children or adults with severe and complex SEND • Have at least 3 months' experience working with SEND in the UK • Candidates without 3 months' UK SEND experience will not be considered • Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS or Enhanced Child and Adult Workforce DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to apply for one • Be able to reliably commute to Leigh • Be available to work full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm We are looking for someone who is: • Highly proactive and isn't afraid to get involved • Adaptable and responsive, able to change their approach depending on the needs of each child • Patient, compassionate and enthusiastic • Confident supporting children with physical, communication, learning and developmental needs • Able to build positive and trusting relationships with children • A strong team player who works well alongside teachers and other support staff • Reliable, resilient and committed to helping children achieve their potential • Someone who understands the importance of promoting independence, dignity and inclusion No two days will be the same. You will play an important role in supporting children throughout their school day, helping them to access learning, develop their independence and engage with the wider school environment. We are looking for someone who will get stuck in, use their initiative and bring energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, while also understanding when a child needs a quieter, more flexible or individualised approach.
