Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Pay: £14.30 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

We're recruiting a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant to support post-16 students with autism, learning disabilities and additional needs at a specialist further education college in Radstock.
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, Learning Support Assistants, Support Workers, Youth Workers, Sports Coaches or anyone passionate about supporting young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you'll work alongside teaching staff to support students both in the classroom and during practical vocational learning.
You'll help young people access education, build confidence, develop independence and prepare for adulthood within a welcoming and inclusive college environment.
No two days are the same. You could be supporting learners in classrooms, practical workshops or around the wider campus, adapting your approach to meet each student's individual needs.
What You'll Do
• Support students during lessons and practical vocational sessions
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support
• Encourage confidence, communication and independence
• Promote positive engagement with learning and college life
• Adapt support to meet individual student needs
• Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider learning support team
• Promote wellbeing, inclusion and safeguarding
About the Setting
You'll be joining a well-established specialist college in Radstock that supports young people to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for adult life.
Students study a range of vocational and practical courses in modern learning environments, including specialist workshop and skills-based settings. The college places a strong emphasis on personalised support, employability and preparing learners for life beyond education, creating a positive and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to achieve their potential.

• A positive, patient and reliable individual
• Someone passionate about supporting young people with SEN
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A proactive team player who enjoys helping others succeed
Experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Youth Worker, Sports Coach or working with individuals with additional needs is beneficial but not essential.
