Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Primary & Secondary)
Location: Taunton
Rate: £89 per day
Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, with the possibility of becoming permanent
We’re supporting a warm, nurturing specialist school in Taunton that educates children and young people aged 4–19 with autism, ADHD and a range of complex learning needs. The school is looking for a flexible and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant who is happy working across both primary and secondary settings, providing 1:1 support and helping with small-group learning.

What you’ll be doing:
• Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs in the classroom and during transitions
• Helping communication through visual strategies, PECS or Makaton where appropriate
• Offering calm, steady, and reassuring support to help children feel safe and confident
• Encouraging independence, engagement and positive learning experiences
• Assisting with a range of activities including life skills, sensory learning and outdoor sessions
• Contributing to progress notes and working closely with teaching staff and parents/carers
We’d love to hear from you if you:
• Have experience supporting children or adults with SEND
• Feel confident working with both primary and secondary age groups
• Are patient, resilient, and a great team player
• Have knowledge of autism and communication approaches (desirable but not essential)
