This is a full-time position supporting learners aged 11 to 16 whose needs cannot be met within a mainstream environment. All students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) linked to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and we are seeking someone with the skill, confidence, and empathy to help them thrive. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in helping students re-engage with learning, build positive relationships, and develop the emotional resilience needed to move successfully into adulthood. Key responsibilities include: • Providing support in lessons, small groups, or one-to-one sessions • Helping maintain a calm, structured, and emotionally safe learning environment • Building trusting and professional relationships with students • Supporting learners with emotional regulation and using de-escalation techniques where appropriate • Implementing personalised strategies in line with each student’s EHCP • Assisting with planning, assessment, and progress monitoring • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies To succeed in this role, you will need strong behaviour management skills, patience, emotional maturity, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
