Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEMH & SEND Specialist Location: Poole, Dorset Start Date: December 2025 Pay: £90–£95 per day Hours: 08:30 – 16:00, Monday to Friday (term time only) Are you an experienced SEND or SEMH specialist Teaching Assistant ready to make a real difference this December? An outstanding specialist school in Poole is looking for a compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their highly supportive and forward-thinking team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work in a nurturing setting with small class sizes (8–10 pupils), ensuring every child receives the individual attention and care they deserve. The school provides exceptional support to pupils with SEMH, ASC and ADHD, using a therapeutic, relationship-based approach that prioritises wellbeing, emotional development, and learning progress. This position would suit an experienced SEMH practitioner, a SEND specialist TA, or a graduate with a background in psychology or education who is passionate about behaviour and emotional support. Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and ASC needs. Implement positive behaviour strategies and therapeutic interventions. Build trusted, supportive relationships that help pupils thrive. Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and external specialists. Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet diverse needs. Track and celebrate progress, contributing to pupil development plans. What We’re Looking For: Experience supporting pupils with SEMH and/or SEND in an educational setting. Calm, patient, and emotionally intelligent approach to behaviour. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A reflective practitioner committed to professional growth. TA qualification or relevant training in SEMH or behaviour support (desirable).
