Position: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Wandsworth, London
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay: Paid to Scale
We are currently seeking a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our team at a vibrant and diverse educational setting in Wandsworth, London. The successful candidate will provide specialized support to students who experience social, emotional, and mental health challenges, enabling them to achieve their full potential in an inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement individual education and behaviour plans.
• Provide tailored support to pupils, both within the classroom and in smaller group or one-to-one settings.
• Help to foster a nurturing and safe environment for learning.
• Establish trusting relationships, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
• Monitor and record students' progress, contributing to assessments and reports.
• Assist with the development of social skills and emotional literacy among pupils.
• Manage challenging behaviour constructively and in accordance with the school's policies.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Teaching and Learning in Schools, or a related field, preferred.
• An up-to-date DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one.
