We’re looking for a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our mainstream secondary school in Brent, supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll work closely with students who need additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in school. From delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to helping manage classroom dynamics, you’ll play a crucial part in promoting a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment.
You’ll collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour support strategies and guide students toward positive choices—both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour (KS3 & KS4)
Help students develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
Support the delivery of behaviour management plans and use de-escalation techniques
Build strong, trusting relationships that promote student engagement and self-confidence
Encourage both academic progress and positive social interaction
Work closely with the wider school team to create a nurturing and consistent environment
About You
Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or behavioural challenges (in schools or similar settings)
Confident in using behaviour management strategies and staying calm under pressure
Empathetic, patient, and proactive in your approach
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Understanding of trauma-informed approaches and de-escalation techniques (desirable)
Relevant qualifications (e.g., TA Level 2/3, Team Teach, or SEMH training) are a bonus—but not essential
What We Offer
A welcoming and inclusive school community in Brent
Ongoing professional development in SEMH and behaviour support
A chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable students
A varied and rewarding role in a supportive secondary school environment
