Position: Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Redditch
Contract: Full-time (Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm)
Pay: From £89 per day
Start Date: December 2025
A supportive secondary school in Redditch is looking to appoint a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work with pupils across Key Stage 3. This role is ideal for someone confident working with older students and passionate about helping young people with additional needs succeed in a secondary school environment.
You will be working closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including learning difficulties, communication needs, and social, emotional, or behavioural needs. The role may involve a mix of in-class support, small-group intervention, and one-to-one work.
This is a full-time, long-term position, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support for KS3 pupils with a range of SEN
• Assist pupils with accessing the curriculum and building confidence in core subjects
• Work closely with teachers to implement personalised strategies and support plans
• Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement
• Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Contribute to students’ emotional well-being and social development
Requirements:
• Experience working in a school, youth setting, or SEN environment is highly desirable
• Previous experience supporting young people with SEN is essential
• Strong communication skills and a supportive, patient approach
• Able to follow guidance from teachers and take initiative when needed
• Reliable, consistent, and confident working with secondary-aged pupils
• A DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
