SEMH Primary Teacher –SEN School| Manchester (Wythenshawe) Salary: £33,000-£42,000 Contract: Permanent Location: South Manchester Suitable for: QTS Teachers, SEND Teachers, Primary Teachers, ECTs with SEND Experience Are you a passionate Primary Teacher looking for a rewarding SEMH teaching role where you can make a genuine difference to children's lives? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Primary Teacher to join to work at a SEN School in South Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a nurturing, therapeutic and relationship-led setting that supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, SEND, Autism (ASC), ADHD, and a range of additional learning needs. The Role As an SEMH Teacher, you will deliver engaging and personalised learning programmes based on a primary curriculum model, that support both academic progress and emotional development. Working closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and external professionals, you will help create a stimulating, structured and supportive learning environment where every pupil can succeed. Key Responsibilities: Teaching, Learning and Curriculum • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes. • Teach individuals and small groups using adaptive and inclusive teaching strategies. • Deliver a broad and balanced primary curriculum including: o English, Phonics, Reading and Writing o Mathematics o Science o Humanities o Computing o PSHE • Develop and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs). • Embed communication, independence and social interaction skills throughout the school day. • Support pupils to develop confidence, resilience and positive learning behaviours. Assessment and Progress: • Monitor, assess and track academic, social and emotional progress. • Use assessment data to identify barriers to learning and inform next steps. • Maintain accurate records of achievement, behaviour and progress. • Contribute to EHCP reviews and annual review meetings. • Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external agencies. Behaviour, Wellbeing and Safeguarding • Create a safe, calm and trauma-informed classroom environment. • Implement positive behaviour support and emotional regulation strategies. • Support pupils to develop self-regulation and emotional literacy skills. • Promote safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times. Teamwork and Professional Development • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and multidisciplinary professionals. • Attend CPD, training and staff development opportunities. • Share best practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the provision. • Support whole-school initiatives and help maintain a positive school culture. What We're Looking For: Essential Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS • Degree qualification • Strong classroom practice • Experience planning, preparing and delivering high-quality lessons • Commitment to inclusive education and raising outcomes for all learners • Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills • Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities Desirable Experience • SEMH teaching experience • SEND, Special School or Alternative Provision experience • PRU or specialist education experience • Trauma-informed practice • Nurture-based approaches • Positive Behaviour Support strategies • Phonics intervention and literacy support • Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD and complex needs • Experience supporting communication needs, including AAC and visual communication systems Early Career Teachers Welcome We welcome applications from ECTs with SEND experience who are passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and developing their career within specialist education.
