Position: PMLD Teaching Assistant
Location: Coventry (CV7)
Contract Type: Full-time/ Part time (Long-Term)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Pay: From £89 per day (PAYE), depending on experience
Start Date: ASAP
We are currently recruiting experienced and resilient PMLD Teaching Assistants to join an Alternative Provision secondary school in Coventry. This setting caters to students with a range of complex needs, including challenging behaviour and SEMH. The role is ideal for individuals who are confident, patient, and skilled at supporting students with high levels of need.
There are multiple full-time and part-time roles available.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of needs, particularly those with SEMH and challenging behaviour
• Implement and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
• Promote emotional regulation, engagement, and positive behaviour through consistent support
• Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCOs, and behaviour teams to ensure cohesive, person-centred support
• Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive and structured learning environment suited to students with complex needs
Requirements:
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant supporting students with PMLD
• Previous experience supporting students with challenging behaviour and/or SEMH is essential
• Experience in an Alternative Provision, PRU, or similar specialist setting is highly desirable
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
• A positive, proactive, and resilient approach
• A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
