Job Title: Part-time Teaching Assistant
1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Bere Regis, Dorset
Hours: Part-time – Thursday and Friday
Pay: £89–£95 per day
Are you a caring and motivated individual looking to make a real difference in a primary school setting?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a friendly, mainstream primary school in Bere Regis. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a one-to-one basis, alongside contributing to the wider classroom environment.
You will play a key role in creating an inclusive, nurturing learning space where pupils feel supported, confident, and empowered to reach their full potential—both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support for two pupils with ASC (one during the morning session and one during the afternoon)
- Build positive, trusting relationships to promote engagement, confidence, and independence
- Support the development of social skills and self-regulation through structured, positive interactions
- Prepare and adapt learning resources to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Monitor, track, and report on pupil progress, celebrating achievements and identifying next steps
- Support positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a calm and inclusive classroom
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding procedures at all times
About You:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar school-based role
- Experience supporting pupils with ASC or additional learning needs
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills, with confidence delivering targeted interventions
- A relevant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) or substantial hands-on experience
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting children’s development
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a flexible and proactive approach
