Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Learning Support Assistant – Mainstream Secondary with SEND Provision – Havering
From £100 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Start After May Half Term / September Start Considered
Axcis are working with a well-established secondary school in Havering who are seeking a proactive and reliable Learning Support Assistant to support students with additional needs across KS3 and KS4.
The school has a strong inclusion team, clear pastoral systems and a supportive SENCO who works closely with classroom staff to ensure pupils can access learning. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy secondary environment and can use initiative to support students both academically and emotionally.
The school is accessible via local transport links and has parking available for staff.
About the Role
You will be supporting students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, moderate learning difficulties and SEMH. This will involve in-class support, small-group work and helping students stay engaged throughout the school day.
You will:
• Support pupils with SEND across mainstream secondary lessons
• Help break down tasks and adapt learning where needed
• Encourage focus, confidence and independence
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff
• Assist with interventions and targeted support where required
What We’re Looking For
• Experience supporting young people in a school, SEND, mentoring or youth work setting
• Understanding of autism, ADHD or SEMH would be beneficial
• Confident communication and strong relationship-building skills
• Ability to use initiative in a busy classroom environment
• Calm, consistent and professional approach
• Full-time availability and commitment to a long-term role
