Learning Support Assistant (Science Specialist) – Secondary School | Islington

A forward-thinking secondary school in Islington is looking to appoint a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant with a Science specialism to join their supportive SEND department from September.
This full-time position involves supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with a range of mild to moderate additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Science department to provide both classroom support and targeted small group interventions.
Main Responsibilities:
Support students with SEND during Science lessons
Deliver focused small group Science interventions
Adapt learning materials to meet individual student needs
Encourage participation, engagement, and academic progress
Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Previous experience working in a similar LSA/SEND role within a secondary school
A strong understanding of Science at KS3/KS4 level
Experience supporting students with additional learning needs
Confidence delivering intervention sessions to small groups
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
