Role:
Axcis is working with a school in Essex looking for a new HTLA. The school is a vibrant, inclusive, and community-focused school, committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child is supported to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our passionate team. The HLTA will play a crucial role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, working closely with pupils, teachers, and staff to deliver engaging and effective education.
To support teachers in delivering high-quality education by working with individuals, groups, or whole classes. HLTAs are expected to take responsibility for planning and delivering learning activities under a teacher's guidance and may supervise other teaching assistants.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver planned learning activities to individuals/groups/whole classes.
• Support pupils with special educational needs (SEN), or other needs.
• Assess, record, and report on pupil progress.
• Provide feedback to pupils in line with school policy.
• Assist with lesson planning under the direction of the teacher.
• Adapt learning materials to suit pupil needs.
• Help prepare the classroom environment and resources.
• Maintain discipline in line with school behaviour policy.
• Supervise pupils during non-teaching times (e.g., lunch, break).
• Support the delivery of specific subjects or curriculum areas.
• Assist with assessing pupils' development.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
• HLTA status
• Experience working in a school setting
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children learn
• Ability to manage groups or a whole class independently
