We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school, supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The successful candidate will have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behaviour, and will be confident working both 1:1 and within small groups. The Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs. Support children with ASD, social communication needs and challenging behaviour. Help pupils engage positively with learning and develop their confidence and independence. Implement strategies and interventions in line with individual EHCPs and support plans. Use positive behaviour-management strategies to support pupils in regulating their emotions and behaviour. Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and wider support team. Assist with creating a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment. Support pupils both academically and socially throughout the school day. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who: Has previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly ASD. Has experience supporting children who display challenging or dysregulated behaviour. Is confident providing 1:1 support as well as working with small groups. Has a calm, patient and consistent approach. Can build strong, trusting relationships with pupils. Understands the importance of positive behaviour support and clear boundaries. Is proactive, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations. Works effectively as part of a wider school team.
