£100–£115 per day | Full-Time | Long-Term | Barking & Dagenham
Axcis Education is looking for a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to work within a secondary setting in Barking & Dagenham, supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour and emotional regulation needs.
This role would suit someone with experience in a PRU, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, residential care, behaviour support or SEND setting. The school is looking for someone who can build strong relationships with pupils, maintain clear boundaries and stay calm when behaviour becomes challenging.
You do not need to have worked in a traditional classroom for years to be considered. Candidates with the right personality, behaviour instincts and experience supporting vulnerable young people are strongly encouraged to apply.
About the Role
• Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 with SEMH and behavioural needs
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support
• Helping pupils manage dysregulation, frustration and challenging behaviour
• Using calm, consistent strategies to help students re-engage with learning
• Supporting pupils who may have experienced exclusion, disrupted education or difficulties within mainstream settings
• Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the wider behaviour team
• Promoting positive choices, independence and improved engagement
About You
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who:
• Have experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
• Are confident setting clear boundaries and expectations
• Can remain calm and professional during difficult situations
• Understand that behaviour is often a form of communication
• Can build relationships without becoming overly familiar
• Have experience in PRUs, alternative provision, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching or behaviour support
• Can commit to a full-time, long-term role
Location
The role is based in Barking & Dagenham, with strong transport links from Barking, Dagenham, Romford, Ilford, Newham and surrounding East London areas.
