Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Behaviour Mentor / SEMH Teaching Assistant – Year 3
Location: East London
Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: September 2026
Axcis Education is seeking a resilient and nurturing Behaviour Mentor / SEMH Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs within a supportive and inclusive junior school environment.

About the Role
You will work closely with a pupil who requires additional support to manage emotions, build positive relationships and engage successfully in learning. The child can display challenging behaviours and benefits from consistent boundaries, positive reinforcement and a patient approach.
Responsibilities will include:
Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day.
Implementing behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
Developing trust and positive relationships with the pupil.
Supporting engagement in lessons and social situations.
Working closely with teaching staff, parents and outside professionals.
Promoting confidence, resilience and independence.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
Strong behaviour management skills.
Calm, approachable and emotionally resilient.
Able to de-escalate situations effectively.
Passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
Team player with excellent communication skills.
