Job Title: Behaviour Mentor in School
Are you someone who cares deeply about supporting young people? Do you have patience, empathy and a calm, positive approach? If so — we’d love to hear from you. We are looking for a full-time Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant to join a small secondary school near Keynsham, working with students aged 11–16, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs, autism or learning difficulties. The role starts in January, initially on a 16-week settling-in period before moving to a permanent contract. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 3.30 pm, and pay is £13.70 per hour. The school is part of a multi-academy trust and, in its most recent inspection (April 2023), was judged “Good” across all areas: quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management. What makes this place special is its warm, caring and structured environment: students say they feel supported, behaviour is well managed and learning can happen without disruption. We’re not just looking for previous experience — we’re looking for the right person. You might be a graduate, a youth worker, a sports coach, a support worker or a teaching assistant wanting meaningful work that matters. What matters most is: • You believe every young person deserves support, understanding and a chance to succeed. • You are patient, calm under pressure, kind and consistent. • You can build trust and rapport with young people; encourage effort, growth and emotional wellbeing. • You are reliable, caring and willing to learn and grow alongside the students and staff. In return you’ll join a supportive team in a school committed to high expectations, a positive behaviour culture and helping every student flourish. If you’re ready for a meaningful role working with young people who need support, and you have the right attitude and values — apply today to be considered for this role.
