Job Title: Behavior Support Officer Location: Rochdale, Lancashire Job Type: Full-Time Working Hours: 8.30 AM - 3.30 PM We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavior Support Officer to join our dynamic team in Rochdale, Lancashire. As a Behavior Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in providing support to individuals with challenging behavior, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and those who have experienced mental trauma. Responsibilities: - Develop and implement individualized care plans that cater to the unique needs of each service user. - Employ a variety of strategies to manage and improve challenging behaviors while promoting positive behavior patterns. - Provide emotional support and practical assistance to individuals experiencing SEMH difficulties and mental trauma. - Work collaboratively with other professionals such as teachers, therapists, and social workers to coordinate support and interventions. - Monitor and record the service users’ progress, adapting strategies as needed to achieve the best outcomes. - Engage with service users, building trust and rapport to create a safe, supportive environment conducive to development and wellbeing. - Conduct risk assessments and ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards. - Promote understanding and awareness of SEMH issues among staff, service users, and broader community stakeholders. - Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary meetings to review and update care plans. Requirements: - A current and clean Enhanced DBS check on the update service. - Experience in working with individuals with challenging behavior, SEMH, and mental trauma. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with service users, staff, and other professionals. - A compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to working with individuals with complex needs. - Proven ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations. - Firm understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies. - Relevant qualifications or training in behavior support, psychology, social work, or a related field.
